NEW ORLEANS, LA—Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu announced plans for the seventh NOLA FOR LIFE Day on Saturday, June 7, 2014, and invited all residents to join in on the community revitalization effort.
Activities will take place from in and around Stallings Gentilly Playground at 1600 Gentilly Boulevard from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

NEW ORLEANS HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY UNITES TO SUPPORT NOLA FOR LIFE
Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu applauded the New Orleans hospitality community for making a significant contribution to the City’s comprehensive murder reduction strategy, NOLA FOR LIFE. On Thursday, March 27, hospitality industry leaders welcomed over 600 guests to a local fundraising event during which they presented Mayor Landrieu with a $78,000 donation to the NOLA FOR LIFE Fund.

Mayor Mitch Landrieu issued the following statement on President Obama's My Brother's Keeper initiative -an effort to make sure that every young African American man who is willing to work hard and lift himself up has an opportunity to get ahead and reach his full potential.
The announcement comes as Mayor Landrieu and Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter convene mayors and city leaders from across the country for the first Cities United conference in New Orleans. Cities United is a nationwide initiative to reduce violent-related death of young African American men and boys.

On Sunday, January 26, 2014, Mayor Mitch Landrieu joined Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter and NOLA FOR LIFE Midnight Basketball participants to announce that Mayor Nutter is committing $2,500 to the NOLA FOR LIFE Midnight Basketball program. The two mayors entered into a friendly wager over the outcome of the January 4th NFL Playoff game between the New Orleans Saints and the Philadelphia Eagles with each mayor promising to provide a "cultural gift" and "community gift." The Saints defeated the Eagles 26 – 24.

NEW ORLEANS, LA—Over 125 volunteers joined Mayor Mitch Landrieu along with City officials, local community organizations, and residents for the sixth NOLA FOR LIFE Day on Saturday, January 11, 2014. The event, a component of the Mayor’s NOLA FOR LIFE comprehensive murder reduction strategy, was held at A.L.
